In 2016, whilst building a new career as a health & fitness writer, I decided to put my preachings into practice by getting into the best shape of my life in time for my fast-approaching 40th birthday.
Later that year I entered an underwear modelling contest on ITV’s Lorraine show, against 2,000 lads in their twenties, and I was lucky enough to be crowned the winner by Lorraine Kelly, model Lisa Snowden and designer Patrick Grant – whose own brand (Hammond & Co) I became the ‘face of’, thanks to a billboard campaign in Debenhams stores across the UK.
I went on to secure a two-year management contract, agents across Europe and South Africa and a regular place on the Lorraine show.
From there, I moved into the commercial modelling scene, which allowed me to put my clothes back on and travel the world as a professional model. My last shoot, before returning to the UK to concentrate on my writing career, was for the new Audi campaign being shot around the luscious locations of Cape Town.
